According to a UN report released on July 21, 2026, victims of transnational online scams in the Asia-Pacific region experienced staggering financial losses totaling up to US$114.1 billion in 2023.
The report emphasizes that these losses have significantly increased, tripling from estimates made in 2023, indicating a growing trend in cybercrime across the region.
Particularly affected are countries in Southeast Asia, which have seen a surge in such scams, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity measures and public awareness.
