Karnataka High Court Responds to Zoo Safety Concerns with Expert Panel

The Central Zoo Authority has informed the Karnataka High Court about its decision to establish an expert panel aimed at improving safety measures for zoo staff entering animal enclosures.

This announcement follows a petition received by the court, which highlighted 17 incidents in zoological parks over the past decade, with seven of these incidents occurring in Karnataka.

The expert panel's objective will be to develop standard operating procedures (SOP) that can help mitigate risks associated with staff interactions with animals.
