As of March 30, 2026, the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (OFPRA) has launched an online archive containing more than 180,000 records of Spaniards who fled Franco's dictatorship.
This initiative, funded by the Spanish government, aims to preserve the historical memory of Spanish refugees over a span of 40 years.
The availability of these records online is expected to improve access for researchers and historians, facilitating a deeper understanding of the impact of Franco's regime on Spanish citizens.
